On Thursday, Pres. Barack Obama responded to the NY TIMES ARTICLE which reported Wall Street handed out $18.4 billion in bonuses for the year.
The President called out the Wall Street bankers for giving themselves bonuses in 2008 (just as they had done in 2004) and said it was “the height of irresponsibility” while the crumbling financial sector received a bailout from taxpayers.
He added, “It is shameful. And part of what we’re going to need is for the folks on Wall Street who are asking for help to show some restraint, and show some discipline, and show some sense of responsibility.”
