The Long Island home central to the ongoing feud between Fifty Cent and his baby momma, Shaniqua Tompkins, was destroyed by fire early Friday morning.
The home was essentially burned to the ground!
The arson squad's been called in as the town's fire chief deemed the blaze highly suspicious.
Six people, including Fiddy's babymomma and his son, Marquis, were taken to a hospital after suffering smoke inhalation and later released.
A passing off-duty police officer reportedly helped rescue the six people off an elevated deck in the home's backyard.
Fiddy was on location filming a movie in Louisiana when the fire broke out.
His mouthpiece issued the following statement,"He is extremely thankful that everyone including his son, Marquise, escaped the burning house safely. He is confident that authorities will be conducting a thorough investigation of the incident and is eager to review their findings."
What drama!
Can't wait to find out who's to blame for the madness! Now, you know 50 was mad that she was living there rent free... You don't think?....Naw...he couldn't have......right?

Music 360: SEAN LEVERT'S DEATH DUE TO NATURAL CAUSES: Coroner cites sarcoidosis, but family says passing could have been prevented.
*An Ohio coroner ruled Thursday that R&B singer Sean Levert died of natural causes, however, his family believes his death possibly could have been prevented had he been allowed to seek medical attention during the week he was in jail.
Cuyahoga County Coroner Frank Miller's report indicates no foul play or trauma was involved in Levert's death, reports the Associated Press. Miller said the artist died from complications of sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body's organs.
According to Miller, Levert suffered from a number of other aliments, including heart disease, high blood sugar and withdrawal from alprazolam, a drug used to treat anxiety disorders and panic attacks that is better known under the trade name Xanax.
Attorneys for Levert's widow say sheriff's department records they reviewed show he wasn't given his alprazolam while in jail or seen by a doctor, which might have prevented his death.
Lawyers Daryl Dennie and David Malik, who represent Levert's widow, Angela Lowe, said they reviewed documents in the coroner's office showing that Levert brought a bottle of Xanax with him to the jail.
"They inventoried it and they never gave it to him," Malik said. "He requested it during the time he was in jail."
Levert was serving a 22-month sentence at the Cuyahoga County Jail for failure to pay child support when he collapsed on March 30 while being held in restraints. He was taken to the hospital, where he died at age 39 at 11:57 p.m.
Following Levert's death, jail warden Kevin McDonough said the singer had been ill and was being monitored by guards because of his bizarre behavior. When he started pounding on his cell door, guards strapped him in a restraint chair, McDonough said. Levert's breathing became shallow and he was taken to the hospital.
"He was exhibiting classic signs of Xanax withdrawal," Dennie said, according to the AP. "A doctor would have been able to recognize these problems. Had he been able to see one in that week's time things could have been different."
Malik said the family may ask the FBI to investigate their concerns. FBI spokesman Scott Wilson said in April that agents were willing to meet with Levert's family. Wilson said Thursday that the FBI was never contacted by the family.

Justice: FORENSIC EXPERT IN KELLY TRIAL SAYS SEX TAPE IS REAL: Plus, defense says it needs more time to question surprise witness.
*An FBI forensic expert testified Thursday that the male and female in a sex tape at the heart of the R. Kelly child pornography trial weren't computer-generated or altered, reports the Associated Press.
George Skaluba spent more than an hour on the stand telling jurors that the video appears to depict "real people in a real environment."
The defense maintains the R&B singer is not the man in the video and has repeatedly suggested that his likeness could have been computer-generated onto the 27-minute tape. The alleged victim, now 23, also has denied she is on the graphic video.
Kelly, 41, is charged with child pornography for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with a girl who prosecutors say was as young as 13. He has pleaded not guilty and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
Under cross-examination, Skaluba conceded he wasn't in a position to say if the male on the tape was actually Kelly or a look-alike. Kelly's attorneys have also noted that the singer has a mole on his back and they claim the man on the tape does not.
The tape obtained by prosecutors is not the original, but a copy several times removed from the original, Skaluba said.
Earlier on Thursday, prosecutors said they needed more time to interview a potential defense witness before he can testify. The man told Kelly's attorneys he had information that could impeach the testimony of a prosecution witness.

BLACK HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: CARL ROWAN
Carl Rowan (1925-2000) was a federal cabinet member, international ambassador and one of the most prominent black journalists of the 20th century.
Born in Ravenscroft, Tennessee, to Thomas David and Johnnie B. Rowan on August 11, 1925, Rowan grew up during the Great Depression. As a young boy, Rowan worked hoeing bulb grass for 10 cents an hour, later performing hard manual labor for 25 cents an hour when there was work available. In his autobiography, Rowan told of living with “no electricity, no running water, no toothbrushes … no telephone, no radio and no regular inflow of money.”
He graduated in 1942 from Bernard High as valedictorian and class president. Rowan moved to Nashville with 77 cents in his pocket and the dream of a college education. In order to earn his tuition for college, he moved in with his grandparents and got a job in a tuberculosis hospital the summer before enrolling in the Tennessee Agricultural and Industrial State College (now Tennessee State University) in Nashville in the fall of 1942. Two years later, during World War II, Rowan passed a competitive exam to become one of the first blacks in Naval officer training.

Politics: Hillary Faces Building Pressure
Sen. Hillary Clinton campaigns before Tuesday’s primary in Huron, South Dakota.
Sen. Hillary Clinton has been under pressure to quit the race. However a new pressure has emerged from Democratic Party leaders who are sending messages to superdelegates urging them to make a choice once primary voting ends Tuesday.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Peolosi are intent on bringing the nomination battle to an end so the Democrats can focus their attention on the general election. “We’re going to urge folks to make a decision quickly — next week,” Reid said in a radio interview in Nevada. “We agree there won’t be a fight at the convention.” Pelosi has said that if the nomination was not settled by the end of June, she would step in to resolve it.
With only three primaries left — Puerto Rico on Sunday, South Dakota and Montana on Tuesday — Clinton trails Sen. Barack Obama by about 200 delegates. However, she is hoping to revive her candidacy on Saturday when the Rules and Bylaws Committee meets to resolve a dispute whether to seat delegates from Florida and Michigan. Clinton won both states in January, but because they violated party rules by holding their elections too early, the results were nullified. Clinton wants those votes to count and if that happens, she would pick up over 100 more delegates than Obama. Although that would not put her in the lead, it might allow her to plead with superdelegates that the race was close enough to give her the nomination.

Politics On Parade: Yet Another Sunday Morning Service Exposed To The World!
Here we go again ya"ll! The media and all bloggers and vloggers are running amock with this video, so I must too. Here we have Father Michael Pfleger (who defended Obama's former pastor, Jeremiah Wright) giving his "spin" on why Hillary is doing what she does. Lawd! If these folks would just sit down, hold on, and shut up, maybe we can get through this process more perfectly! What do you think? Here is what everyone else is sayin':
On Thursday, Sen. Barack Obama said he was “deeply disappointed” by a supporter’s sermon at Trinity United Church of Christ that mocked his Democratic nomination rival Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Michael Pfleger also apologized for Sunday’s sermon in which he said Clinton felt “entitled” to the nomination and that “there’s a black man stealing [her] show”.
In a statement from the Obama campaign, the candidate said: “As I have traveled this country, I’ve been impressed not by what divides us, but by all that that unites us. That is why I am deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger’s divisive, backward-looking rhetoric, which doesn’t reflect the country I see or the desire of people across America to come together in common cause.”
Pfleger, the white pastor of predominantly black Saint Sabina Roman Catholic Church, said he regretted his choice of words: “These words are inconsistent with Senator Obama’s life and message and I am deeply sorry if they offended Senator Clinton or anyone else who saw them.”
Clinton’s campaign denounced Pfleger’s comments: “Divisive and hateful language like that is totally counterproductive in our efforts to bring our party together and have no place at the pulpit or in our politics,” the campaign said in a statement. “We are disappointed that Senator Obama didn’t specifically reject Father’s Pfleger’s despicable comments about Senator Clinton, and assume he will do so.”

Oh No! Energy drinks linked to risky behavior among teenagers!
Oh, no!!!! CLICK HERE to read the startling article accompanying this headline.
Energy drinks linked to risky behavior among teenagers????
Health researchers have identified a surprising new predictor for risky behavior among teenagers and young adults: the energy drink.
Super-caffeinated energy drinks, with names like Red Bull, Monster, Full Throttle and Amp, have surged in popularity in the past decade. About a third of 12- to 24-year-olds say they regularly down energy drinks, which account for more than $3 billion in annual sales in the United States.
The trend has been the source of growing concern among health researchers and school officials. Around the country, the drinks have been linked with reports of nausea, abnormal heart rhythms and emergency room visits.
In Colorado Springs, several high school students last year became ill after drinking Spike Shooter, a high caffeine drink, prompting the principal to ban the beverages. In March, four middle school students in Broward County, Florida, went to the emergency room with heart palpitations and sweating after drinking the energy beverage Redline. In Tigard, Oregon, teachers this month sent parents e-mail alerting them that students who brought energy drinks to school were "literally drunk on a caffeine buzz or falling off a caffeine crash."
New research suggests the drinks are associated with a health issue far more worrisome than the jittery effects of caffeine — risk taking.
In March, The Journal of American College Health published a report on the link between energy drinks, athletics and risky behavior. The study's author, Kathleen Miller, an addiction researcher at the University of Buffalo, says it suggests that high consumption of energy drinks is associated with "toxic jock" behavior, a constellation of risky and aggressive behaviors including unprotected sex, substance abuse and violence.
The finding doesn't mean the drinks cause bad behavior. But the data suggest that regular consumption of energy drinks may be a red flag for parents that their children are more likely to take risks with their health and safety. "It appears the kids who are heavily into drinking energy drinks are more likely to be the ones who are inclined toward taking risks," Miller said.
The American Beverage Association says its members don't market energy drinks to teenagers. "The intended audience is adults," said Craig Stevens, a spokesman. He says the marketing is meant for "people who can actually afford the two or three bucks to buy the products."
The drinks include a variety of ingredients in different combinations: plant-based stimulants like guarana, herbs like ginkgo and ginseng, sugar, amino acids including taurine as well as vitamins. But the main active ingredient is caffeine.
Caffeine content varies. A 12-ounce serving of Amp contains 107 milligrams of caffeine, compared with 34 to 38 milligrams for the same amount of Coca-Cola or Pepsi. Monster has 120 milligrams and Red Bull has 116. Higher on the spectrum, Spike Shooter contains 428 milligrams of caffeine in 12 ounces, and Wired X344 contains 258.
Stevens points out that "mainstream" energy drinks often have less caffeine than a cup of coffee. At Starbucks, the caffeine content varies depending on the drink, from 75 milligrams in a 12-ounce cappuccino or latte to as much as 250 milligrams in a 12-ounce brewed coffee.
One concern about the drinks is that because they are served cold, they may be consumed in larger amounts and more quickly than hot coffee drinks, which are sipped. Another worry is the increasing popularity of mixing energy drinks with alcohol. The addition of caffeine can make alcohol users feel less drunk, but motor coordination and visual reaction time are just as impaired as when they drink alcohol by itself, according to an April 2006 study in the medical journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research.
"You're every bit as drunk, you're just an awake drunk," said Mary Claire O'Brien, associate professor in the departments of emergency medicine and public health services at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina
O'Brien surveyed energy drink and alcohol use among college students at 10 universities in North Carolina. The study, published this month in Academic Emergency Medicine, showed that students who mixed energy drinks with alcohol got drunk twice as often as those who consumed alcohol by itself and were far more likely to be injured or require medical treatment while drinking. Energy drink mixers were more likely to be victims or perpetrators of aggressive sexual behavior. The effect remained even after researchers controlled for the amount of alcohol consumed.
Energy drink marketers say they don't encourage consumers to mix the drinks with alcohol. Michelle Naughton, a spokeswoman for PepsiCo, which markets Amp, said, "We expect consumers to enjoy our products responsibly."
Local News: When Teachers Sell Their Students Drugs
UPDATE!!!: This teacher was the victim of an elaborate hoax by his ex and her new man. He was released and will not be facing charges...However, they are looking for the ex and her pal!!
A teacher from Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton, CA, has just been arrested.
The reason?
Turns out the professor is locked up on narcotics and weapon charges!!!!
According to police sergeant Mike MacDonald, several anonymous 911 calls were received about the shady teacher.
One caller stated that he "had purchased drugs from a person he believed to be a teacher at Sunny Hills."
Sgt. MacDonald added that the "caller also said the person, who he identified as Abbott, had a weapon in his vehicle."
The teacher in question is 31 year-old Gregory Abbott, who has taught history at Sunny Hills for the past seven years. He is also the school's track coach.
Sgt. MacDonald stated that the Police Department's High School Resource Officer then contacted Abbott in his classroom and got permission to search his vehicle.
And shockingly enough, the search turned up some prescription drugs, some marijuana packaged for sale, and an unload shotgun.
Idiot!
Abbott posted his $25,000 bail.
Let's hope they keep him away from the children.
Something needs to be done about better screening teachers!!!

Politics: FOX NEWS SHOULD FIRE LIZ TROTTA?
Fox News contributor Liz Trotta has apologized for her remarks, but critics are calling for the network to fire her after she remarked that she wished somebody would assassinate presidential candidate Barack Obama. A petition for Fox News to sack Liz Trotta has been circulating and is less than 500 signatures away from its goal of 10,000.
Tragic: TEEN SHOOTING
Mildred Beaubrun, an 18-year-old student at Olympia High School was looking forward to graduation and nursing school.
Last Monday, she was shot after leaving Club Firestone in downtown Orlando. She and her friends had stopped at a 7-11 for gas and something to drink. Three or four men in a Chevrolet HHR also stopped and followed the young women as they left. “Hey, baby, what’s your phone number?” they called out. The men then began throwing items at the women’s Nissan Maxima and at one point, even swerved into the Maxima’s lane and tried to run the car off the road.
A shot was fired and the bullet struck Beaubrun, who was sitting in the back seat. She’s now lying unconscious at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Doctors aren’t sure that she’ll wake up or walk again.
Her mother, Mireille Jeanlouis, said, “I want them to catch these people who did that to my daughter. I don’t want them to do that to someone else.”

OPRAH'S DWINDLING APPEAL EXAMINED: New York Times outlines reasons for TV mogul's drop in popularity.
*An article in Monday's New York Times points out various signs that Oprah Winfrey's pop culture dominance is beginning to weaken.
Writer Edward Wyatt notes: The average audience for “The Oprah Winfrey Show” has fallen nearly 7 percent this year, according to Nielsen Media Research — its third straight year of decline.
“Oprah’s Big Give,” an ABC philanthropic reality show, beat every program on television except “American Idol” in its premiere week this winter, but steadily lost nearly one-third of its audience during the rest of its eight-week run, according to Nielsen.
The circulation of O, The Oprah Magazine, has fallen by more than 10 percent in the last three years, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, and the magazine is now seeking a new editor in chief after the announced retirement of its longtime steward, Amy Gross.
And while Ms. Winfrey still displays a Midas touch when it comes to the endorsement of books and products, some of her latest picks have attracted criticism from longtime fans as she has strayed into new-age spiritualism and, perhaps more dangerously, politics. Her endorsement of the presidential bid of Senator Barack Obama appears to have alienated some of the middle-aged white women who make up the bulk of her television audience, many of whom support Senator Hillary Clinton.

FOX ANALYST APOLOGIZES FOR OBAMA JOKE: Liz Trotta 'jokingly' called for the senator's assassination during live segment.
*Fox News Channel contributor Liz Trotta, a former Washington Times editor and three-time Emmy winner, has issued an apology for making a cruel joke that suggested she wished death to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
On Sunday, Fox host Eric Shawn asked Trotter about the backlash surrounding Sen. Hillary Clinton's mention of Robert F. Kennedy's assassination when asked by a South Dakota newspaper about extending her campaign into June.
Trotter said: "Now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama, uh Obama. Well, both, if we could."
The footage was on YouTube in no time. The blogosphere lit up Sunday and Monday with comments expressing outrage, prompting Trotter to address her remarks with an apology the next morning.
"I am so sorry about what happened yesterday and the lame attempt at humor," she said, when reminded of her comments by Fox anchor Bill Hemmer. "I fell all over myself, making it appear that I wished Barack Obama harm or any other candidate, for that matter, and I sincerely regret it and apologize to anybody I have offended. It is a very colorful political season, and many of us are making mistakes and saying things we wish we had not said."....testing...testing...is my mic on? Why did she have to say "colorful" political season????

POLITICS: IT’S ALMOST OVER
Sen. Barack Obama will formally capture the Democratic presidential nomination after next week’s final primaries in Puerto Rico, Montana and South Dakota.
Obama’s campaign adviser, David Axelrod, said that after the June 3 primaries “Obama will ‘be at the number we need to claim the nomination’.”
According to CNN’s latest estimate, Obama is 52 delegates short of clinching the nomination while Sen. Hillary Clinton needs 246.
On Tuesday, Edward Lewis, chairman and founder of Essence Magazine and chairman of Latina Magazine, endorsed Obama, switching from Clinton and citing Obama’s vision for a better America.
Lewis said:
“As the founder of a woman’s magazine, I acknowledge that Senator Clinton has served as a role model for many women across America and I have great admiration for her.
However, as the campaign has unfolded, I have witnessed the strength of Senator Obama and both his passion and commitment for new possibilities for a better America. His conviction has led to my conviction that he is the hope for our country. I urge all Americans to support his candidacy for President of the United States.”

Today's & Yesterday's Foolywang: Ray J
We shouldn't have asked!!!!!
We mentioned earlier this week singer Ray J was kicked out of a D.C.-area hotel this past weekend because he was stashing drugs - including one called "Boat" - in his room.
Well, we were 'educated' and did a bit of poking around the net on our own.
For those of you who don't know what "Boat" is — it's the street name for PCP!!!
"Boat" is popular in liquid form. Users dip joints in the liquid to get a crazy high.
We also discovered that recreational doses of the drug can induce a psychotic state that resembles schizophrenic episodes.
Why in this crazy world would you want to go out of your way to lose your mind?
No thanks!

Justice: R. Kelly Trial Update
I’m not sure if you all been keeping up with R.Kelly news but this trial has been a mess, but worthy of some popcorn and butter (hand that over). After watching the sex tape on opening day, the defense is sticking to their story that that is not R. Kelly on the sex tape and the woman shown is not the niece of R&B singer Sparkle who would have been around 13 or 14 at the time the tape was made. Although the girl is denying it was her as well, four key witnesses have identified her as the victim in the sex tape including her best friend at the time and Sparkle, who got into a spat with the defense attorney yesterday: Check out the play by play below:
The loud bickering began when Genson asked if someone could have doctored the illicit video to make it appear as if Kelly were paying a young girl to perform various sex acts. Edwards, who wore cosmetic glitter under her left eye to provide her trademark “sparkle,” gave a snide smile.
“I know my family,” she said. “I know them. Trust me.”
“And so you know and believe your [relative] took money from Robert Kelly and then had sex with him, which is on that tape?” Genson asked. “That’s what you know?”
“Just like he made her do,” Edwards said, struggling to maintain her composure. “You see she’s a robot on that tape.”
Genson then tried to make Edwards acknowledge she didn’t know who made the tape.
“Robert made the tape,” she answered, her voice growing louder. “You can clearly see him setting it up, passing my [relative] some money, like she is a prostitute.”
Genson suggested Edwards hoped to profit from the tape because she spoke with a lawyer about it before talking to the police.
“Sweetie, I am not trying to get money from anybody,” Edwards said.
“I’m not your sweetie,” Genson snapped.
Cook County Circuit Judge Vincent Gaughan halted the testimony and ordered the two to calm down. Stunned jurors stole sideways glances with each other as a few tried to stifle laughter.
Kelly, who rarely looked at Edwards during her testimony, stared straight ahead with no expression on his face. source

Music 360: R&B Singer Houston Speaks Out …
Lawd, someone done found R&B singer Houston and dragged him out of a mental ward for an exclusive interview. The last we heard of him, he had gouged his eye out after trying to commit suicide in a London hotel room. (or atleast that’s the way the story goes). He’s now speaking out about the eye incident claiming it was just an eye injury that he got dealing with “certain thugs”. He’s also seems paranoid about going to the pen and loosing his manhood (talks about it for 2 minutes) and has started a movement against sodomy and gang rape in jail. One thing is for sure, life has been hard for the ole’ boy and I most definitely wasn’t prepared for him to take off them shades to exposed that gouged eye. this should be an example of WHY TO STAY OUT OF THIS HIP-HOP CULTURE AND MENTALITY SAINTS. A mind and a life is are terrible things to waste. Houston. A casualty of the industry...
Tragic: Rapper Xzibit Loses New Born Son
Rapper Xzibit posted on his myspace blog that his newborn son Xavier died yesterday morning–about a week after being born pre-mature:
ITS 4:32AM AND I HAVE SOME BAD NEWS……..
AS you all know, I shared with you the announcement of my newborn son Xavier Kingston Joiner on may 15th and also informed you that he was born prematurely. well this week was extremely difficult for him because his lungs were not strong enough to handle regular oxygen on his own. Xavier passed away this morning at 3:30am and I must tell you this, It is unnatural for a parent to bury a child. I am telling you this because of the same reason I tell you when im having great times, life is too short to be fake. Hold on to your kids if you have them, protect them and show them you love them everyday you wake up and see them, don’t take a second you get to hug them teach them and care for them for granted. You can have all the material wealth in the universe but it is NOTHING compared to having your family. I am thankful for all of my blessings and i/m not one to question God’s perfect plan, so I leave you with great love and thanks for the love that was sent earlier on my previous blog to my son. Of course I need to take some time and handle my loss, STAY FOCUSED PEOPLE. Its not promised to any of us.
NEW BLACK HISTORY: FIRST SEIU BLACK FEMALE PRESIDENT
Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1000, the largest state employee union in California, recently elected Yvonne Walker as its president, the first black woman to hold the position.
Walker, a legal secretary at the Department of Justice, previously served as the 94,000-member union’s vice president for bargaining for three years.
She remarked, “We’ll continue to focus our energies to pass a responsible state budget, negotiate a new contract for our members, and build a union that wins for our members. This is an opportunity to bring everyone together…This was a tough and spirited election, but we all share the same goals.”
Elected with 44 percent of the vote, Walker will assume office on July 1.

Justice: Sean Bell Update
The three cops acquitted of killing Sean Bell were hit with disciplinary charges last week. Detectives Marc Cooper, Gescard Isnora and Michael Oliver were accused of firing their weapons outside of NYPD departmental guidelines - charges that could result in their termination from the force. Isnora was also charged with violating NYPD vice protocols by taking action as an undercover.
Al Sharpton, who is demanding that the Justice Department try the three cops for violating Bell’s civil rights, called the internal charges “a step in the right direction.”
“That’s good news,” Sean Bell’s father, William, added. “On a gloomy day like today, I need some good news.”
The three officers remain on modified duty, stripped of their guns and badges.

Friday's Foolywang: Ray J Singing The National Athem at the Calzaghe Hopkins Boxing Match!!
Why am I just finding out this video has been on youtube for over a week? I had no idea! I’ve been wanting to hear Ray-J’s rendition of The Star Spangled Banner from the Calzaghe vs. Hopkins boxing match last month. I really wanted to hear it after Whitney Houston admitted she flew all the way to Vegas, not to see the fight, but to “hear Ray-J sing”. JTTW! It was AW-FUL! Check out the "GONE OFF KEY" moment at 0.40 and the cracks and as Paula and Randy would say, "PITCHINESS" thereafter. Jesus Build A Fence, and make it soundproof! Oooofff! One would think he would have at least tried to do a slight bit better than that!
Justice: R Kelly Trial Update - Friday 5-23-2008
MORE POSITIVE ID'S IN R. KELLY TRIAL: Another witness testifies to being former friend of alleged victim.
*Prosecutors in R. Kelly's child pornography trial continued Thursday to provide witnesses that can positively identify the alleged victim at the center of the case.
The R&B singer, 41, is accused of videotaping himself having sex with a girl as young as 13. His attorneys claim that Kelly is not on the tape and the alleged victim, who is now 23, also denies that she is in the video.
Aubrey Hampton, 23, a former friend and classmate of the alleged victim, testified that she saw the sex tape at a friend's house after hearing about it through the grapevine at Oak Park-River Forest High School, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. She said at the time, her junior year, she recognized the girl as her friend.
She told the jury "there's no question" that the female on the tape is her childhood friend at age 13 or 14.
Hampton, a senior studying business marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, said that her mother later found the tape in her daughter's bedroom and threw it away. But when Hampton saw the video again Thursday morning in the state's attorney's office, she said she was once again convinced it was her friend.
On cross-examination, Hampton told the court that her friend never once mentioned that she was having sex with Kelly, nor did she suspect that any such activity was taking place between them.
Hampton's mother, Mary Kay Jerit, an adoption worker with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, was asked on cross-examination why she didn't turn the tape over to authorities instead of throwing it away if she suspected it to be child porn. Jerit said that she inquired if the tape was under investigation but did not report it because she was not mandated to do so.
On Wednesday, an aunt and an uncle of the alleged victim also identified the female on the tape as their niece. As previously reported, Simha Jamison, 24, identified the alleged victim as her friend of 10 years. Jamison's father, Peter Thomas, testified that the alleged victim's involvement in the video was the talk of their neighborhood.
As of press time Thursday afternoon, more identification witnesses were expected to be called.

Politics: JOHN MCCAIN DUMPS HIS JEREMIAH WRIGHT: John Hagee said, 'God sent Adolf Hitler to help Jews reach the promised land.'
*Look like presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain has his own Jeremiah Wrights to deal with.
McCain on Thursday rejected endorsements from two influential but controversial televangelists, saying there is no place for their incendiary criticisms of other faiths, reports the AP.
McCain rejected the months-old endorsement of Texas preacher John Hagee after an audio recording surfaced in which the preacher said God sent Adolf Hitler to help Jews reach the promised land. McCain called the comment "crazy and unacceptable."
He later repudiated the support of Rod Parsley, an Ohio preacher who has sharply criticized Islam and called the religion inherently violent.
McCain issued a statement Thursday afternoon announcing his decision about Hagee.
"Obviously, I find these remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible, and I repudiate them. I did not know of them before Reverend Hagee's endorsement, and I feel I must reject his endorsement as well," he said.
Later, in Stockton, he told reporters: "I just think that the statement is crazy and unacceptable."
Then in an interview with The Associated Press, McCain said he rejected Parsley's support, too.
"I believe there is no place for that kind of dialogue in America, and I believe that even though he endorsed me, and I didn't endorse him, the fact is that I repudiate such talk, and I reject his endorsement," McCain said.

Black And Latino Students Face HIGH College Dropout Rates
San Jose State University senior Joel Bridgeman, 24, in his home in San Jose, Calif. on Tuesday, May 13, 2008. (Nhat V. Meyer/Mercury News) ( Nhat V. Meyer )
Their acceptance into San Jose State University turned Joel Bridgeman and Anwar Estelle into instant neighborhood heroes. Few from the bleak Richmond streets make it to college, with its promise of a career. It meant never having to sweep the parking lot of Burger King again.
But the reality of college hit hard. Upon arrival, they needed remedial courses. Financial aid fell through. Their families couldn't help. And hardly anyone on campus looked like them.
"It's demoralizing when you get here and you're starting off behind," Bridgeman said. "You think: Maybe I'm not as smart as I thought."
Much of the debate over the achievement gap has focused on helping African-American and Latino students graduate from high school and get into college. But the sobering reality is that the gap persists even there.
Bridgeman and Estelle prevailed and will celebrate at Saturday's graduation.
But many others won't be there. While making substantial increases in college enrollment, African-Americans and Latinos drop out at higher rates, according to the Washington D.C.-based non-profit the Education Trust.
Nationally, the graduation rate is 53 percent; in contrast, the graduation rate of what schools call "underrepresented minorities" - blacks, Latinos and American Indians - is 45 percent. The gap has narrowed slightly in recent years - in 2002, only 42 percent of such students graduated.

Tragedy in Tennessee
Contemporary Christian music star Steven Curtis Chapman lost his youngest child on Wednesday evening after a horrible accident in the family home.
According to reports, the singer's daughter was struck by a car driven by her teenage brother in the driveway of the family’s Tennessee house.
Several children were playing in the area at the time of the accident.
The teen said he did not see Maria in the driveway before the vehicle struck her.

The accident was witnessed by two other children.
So sad.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Chapman family.

Justice: R. Kelly Trial Update - Thursday 5-22-08
WITNESS IN R. KELLY TRIAL IDENTIFIES ALLEGED VICTIM: Plus, courtroom sketch artist fired for drawing jurors.
*A childhood friend of the alleged victim in R. Kelly's child pornography case identified her longtime friend as the one in the explicit video at the center of the trial, according to reports.
The R&B singer is accused of videotaping himself having sex with a girl as young as 13. His attorneys claim that Kelly is not on the tape and the alleged victim, who is now 23, also denies that she is in the video.
After screening the entire video following opening statements Tuesday, prosecutors spent yesterday trying to prove that Kelly and the alleged victim are indeed in the video, reports the Associated Press.
Simha Jamison, 24, testified that she and the alleged victim were best friends for about 10 years until their junior year in high school — and that she is very familiar with the physical features of her friend's face. She said that she and her friend visited Kelly at his recording studio and at a Chicago basketball court dozens of times starting when they were around the age of 12.
Her friend first introduced her to Kelly as "her godfather," Jamison said, adding that the singer frequently gave her friend cash gifts — "no less than $100 and no more than $500." She said the two also visited the home where authorities say the sex tape was filmed. Jamison said she saw the tape in 2002 and again just before testifying.
Under intense cross examination by defense attorney Sam Adam Jr., Jamison was grilled about her memory, her previous testimony and her ability to discern doctored video footage.
According to reports, Jamison stood her ground against Adam Jr.'s aggressive questioning. Jamison conceded that in the hundreds of times she had seen Kelly and the alleged victim together, she never saw any sexual contact between them. And though she conceded her former best friend of 10 years never told her about a relationship with the R&B star, that didn't mean nothing ever happened between them.
"There were things I wouldn't tell her as I'm sure there were things that she wouldn't tell me," she told the court.

Music 360: Michelle Williams "We Break The Dawn"?
Since I already did Foolywang today, I didn't label this as such, but I have to say something about this whackness. This is what happens when you leave Gospel Music and dabble in something else. The results are disastrous. Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child, has decided to follow in the footseteps of her girl "Sasha". She has done an all out R&B/Pop/Hip-Hop album which is about to drop called, "Unexpected". Wonder what her alter ego name is....."Evelyn" perhaps? Now, maybe it's just my opinion, but I don't know if folks will be feeling this. What is she doing?? The song is crack, the dancing is whack, the look is forced, but the only thing going positive in this is perhaps the "hair", cuzz you know Michelle can look a little "wiggy" at times (Somebody make their way to my mic please and put it in the "OFF" position). Anyway, check out this "Video". What do you think?

Pay Yo Debts: WESLEY SNIPES DUE IN PRISON ON JUNE 3: Unless the actor is granted bail while his tax convictions are appealed.
*Wesley Snipes must begin serving his federal prison sentence on June 3rd unless he can convince a judge to grant him bail while he appeals his three federal tax convictions, reports the Associated Press.
U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges last month sentenced Snipes to three years in prison, but the actor's attorneys plan to argue before the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that Hodges erred in several ways before and after his February conviction.
Snipes' attorneys argue that Hodges gave the jury bad instructions and should have granted them an expanded pretrial hearing on their request to move the proceedings.
For bail to be granted during the appeal, the 45-year-old film star must prove that he has a substantial issue to raise and isn't a flight risk. Prosecutors said Snipes had no major issues to raise and has demonstrated he could flee.
In a Monday filing, U.S. Attorney Robert O'Neill said Snipes told the probation office he had less than $10,000 in liquid assets, but the actor surprised the government by producing $5 million in payment for back taxes at his sentencing.
"His apparent lack of candor about his assets, combined with trial evidence that he has transferred millions of dollars offshore, show some risk of flight," O'Neill wrote.

BLACK HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: EDMONIA LEWIS
Edmonia Lewis (1845?-1911?) was the first Black female sculptor to gain fame and recognition.
Born Mary Edmonia Lewis on July 14, 1865, to a black father and part American Indian, Lewis was raised as a Mississauga Indian with the culture and values of the Chippewa Nation after her parents died when she was around ten. She and her brother were known as Wildfire and Sunrise, respectively.

Her brother financed her prep school education with wealth from the California Gold Rush, and also an education at Oberlin College beginning in 1859. While there, she excelled at drawing. When a teacher at Oberlin lost some paintbrushes, Lewis was accused of the theft. She was also accused of attempted murder when two girls fell ill after drinking mulled wine, which Lewis allegedly served them. Although acquitted of both charges, she was not permitted to graduate.

NEW NAACP PRESIDENT
The NAACP has chosen its next leader.
On Sunday, after meeting for eight hours, the board chose 35-year-old activist and former news executive Benjamin Todd Jealous. He is the youngest leader in the 99-year old organization’s history, but he says he’s excited.
Jealous told The Associated Press, “I think that it’s a real affirmation that this organization is willing to invest in the future, to invest in the ideas and the leadership of the generation that is currently raising black children in this country.”
He will take office as president in September. His bio is now available on the NAACP website.

BLACK TELEVISION NEWS CHANNEL
When it launches in 2009, the Black Television News Channel (BTNC) will be a 24/7 cable news network that provides original news programming with a distinctly African-American perspective, filling a major gap in coverage of African-Americans by today’s mainstream media.
Created by J.C. Watts, a former Republican congressman from Oklahoma, the network is part of a multi-year carriage agreement with Comcast Cable. Initial distribution will be limited to Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Washington, Atlanta and Baltimore.
As BTNC brings blacks news from their own points of view, it hopes to stem growth and maturation of black people who will not only be on-air talent but the ones making editorial decisions on what stories actually get covered. Watts said, “Our unique and vast content partnerships with African American newsmakers will provide our viewers live access to the stories and people in whom our viewers have a special interest.”

Justice: Officers Face Department Charges in Bell Killing
Four of the men facing new charges are, clockwise from top left, Gescard F. Isnora, Michael Oliver, Marc Cooper, all detectives who stood trial in the Sean Bell case, and Lt. Gary Napoli, a supervisor.

Times Topics: Sean Bell
The department said that the officers violated the internal policy manual in a variety of ways, including improperly firing their guns and failing to process the crime scene after Mr. Bell was killed and his two friends injured in a storm of 50 bullets.
The three detectives who stood trial in the case — Detectives Gescard F. Isnora, Michael Oliver and Marc Cooper — were charged with “discharging their firearms outside of department guidelines,” said Paul J. Browne, the Police Department’s chief spokesman. Detective Isnora was also charged with taking enforcement action while working as an undercover officer instead of letting officers who were present, and not working undercover, take control.
Lt. Gary Napoli, the ranking officer at the scene, faces internal charges of failing to supervise the operation, Mr. Browne said. Sergeant Hugh McNeil and Detective Robert Knapp, of the Crime Scene Unit, were also charged: the detective with failing to thoroughly process the crime scene and the sergeant with failing to ensure a thorough processing was done.
Police Officer Michael Carey, was charged with discharging his firearm outside of department guidelines. Another officer involved in the shooting, Detective Paul Headley, was not charged because a review of the evidence currently available did not support charges, officials said.
If the charges, known as administrative charges, are upheld, the officers could face discipline ranging from loss of pay to retraining to firing. But the internal investigation has been suspended as federal prosecutors weigh civil rights charges in the case.
The department filed the internal charges Tuesday to beat a Sunday deadline. Under personnel rules, it had 18 months from the date of the shooting, Nov. 25, 2006, to charge the officers.
The Rev. Al Sharpton, who has been a spokesman for the Bell family and has protested the acquittals, called the charges “a step in the right direction.” But he drew a parallel between the Bell shooting and the recent beatings of three suspects by the police in Philadelphia, which was caught on videotape.

Finally, today they will begin opening arguments in the R. Kelly sex tape trial. It looks like if he is convicted then he could face up to 15 years in prison. JTTW! I really don’t know what to make of this trial. First they were supposed to have testimony from the girl but she is not going to testify.
Prosecutors will run into defense challenges at every turn. Kelly, 41, denies he’s the man on the tape. The 23-year-old woman prosecutors say was a minor at the time of the taping denies she’s the girl on the tape. Defense attorneys may also contend the girl, whoever she was, wasn’t a minor at all.
It’s just so many twist and turns to this trial, it’s almost like another one of his trapped in the closet sagas. Well all we can do is sit back and watch as the story unfolds. Do you think he’s guilty? Do you believe he can fly??
Michael Hayes Makes Racist Comments Towards Obama
In Dave Meltzer's most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter he notes that head SmackDown writer Michael Hayes made racist comments towards Presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
According to Meltzer Hayes said, “How can we have a President that can’t read the constitution?” and “If that boy gets elected, I’m moving to Canada.” Many within WWE questioned McMahon’s skit mocking Obama after Obama agreed to do Raw, despite knowing there was a risk of backfire if the Hayes story and his comments got out that week.
Bobby Lashley spoke out against Hayes last week in an audio interview saying that he personally did not like him. Hayes is currently serving a 60-day suspension for making racist comments towards Mark Henry. According to a WWE spokesperson Hayes will have to undergo further evaluation before he returns to work.
Sign Of The Times: UK Trying To Make Human-Animal Embryos!!??
Allowing the creation of human-animal hybrid embryos would make the UK a scientific "rogue state", MPs have been warned as a fierce debate opened on highly-controversial new laws.
Gordon Brown and David Cameron have both firmly backed the ground-breaking technique as a means to develop treatments for common conditions that could potentially save millions of lives.
The Prime Minister and Tory leader also support the creation of "saviour siblings" selected by parents in order to provide tissue material for seriously ill children.
Mr Brown has hailed both innovations as "an inherently moral endeavour". But opponents from all parties hope to unite to axe both from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill in crunch Commons votes on Monday evening.
And with MPs allowed to vote according to personal conscience, not the party line, on the most contentious elements of the Bill, the result is not predictable.
Leading the fight against so-called "admixed embryos", Tory MP Edward Leigh said the technique, which involves implanting a human nucleus inside an animal cell, was "a step too far".
Scientists believe that stem cells harvested from these embryos could provide the key to breakthroughs in the treatment of conditions such as Parkinson's disease, cystic fibrosis or muscular dystrophy. Research is currently being held up by the shortage of human eggs to create stem cells.
But critics of hybrids have branded them "Frankenstein science", saying it is obscene to combine human and animal genetics. They also question the benefits, insisting other methods are more effective.
But Mr Leigh said 21 other countries had banned the creation of hybrids. "In terms of embryonic research we will almost be like a rogue state," he warned.
But Labour MP Chris Bryant, a former Anglican curate, compared Mr Leigh's arguments to those used by church leaders against the smallpox vaccine. He said: "They were wrong and I think you are wrong today."
Obama Warns GOP "Lay Off My Wife"...Tell 'Em Bam!
Sen. Barack Obama ripped into a Republican ad today that targets comments made by his wife, Michelle, and called the GOP tactic "low class" and "detestable."
The senator and his wife discuss the race for the White House. The Illinois senator told "Good Morning America" that he expects hardball tactics from the Republicans if he becomes the Democratic presidential nominee.
"But I also think these folks should lay off my wife," he told "GMA" as his wife chuckled beside him.
Obama told "GMA" that he believes he will win a majority of the Democratic delegates once the votes are counted after Tuesday's primaries in Kentucky and Oregon. Obama is favored in Oregon while rival Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York is expected to win Kentucky.
Obama was careful not to act as if he had already clinched the nomination, but he also tried to present himself as the candidate who will be taking on Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona in the fall.
Philly police to fire 4 over videotaped beating!
PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia's police commissioner said Monday that four officers will be fired and four others disciplined for their roles in the beatings of three shooting suspects, an encounter that was captured on videotape and drew widespread outrage.
Another eight officers who had physical contact with the suspects will undergo additional training on the department's policies concerning the use of force, Commissioner Charles Ramsey said. He said the police department made the disciplinary decisions after reviewing frames from enhanced tape of a video shot by a television news helicopter on May 5.
The video, shot by WTXF-TV, shows the suspects being pulled from their car on the side of the road and groups of officers kicking, punching and beating the men. A total of 19 officers — 18 city police and one transit officer — were involved.
Two of the officers being fired are relatively new to the force and can be terminated immediately, Ramsey said. Two others are being suspended without pay for 30 days with intent to dismiss.
Three other officers are being suspended and one sergeant is being demoted. A criminal investigation is continuing.
Police said they had been pursuing the car in connection with a triple shooting. The three men — Brian Hall, 23, Pete Hopkins, 19, and Dwayne Dyches, 24, all of Philadelphia — have been charged with attempted murder and related counts stemming from the shooting. Their attorneys have said they had nothing to do with it.
One of Dyches' attorneys said he suffered a welt on his head the size of a baseball and that one of his legs was seriously injured.
All three of the shooting suspects are black. Ramsey has denied allegations that the beatings were racially motivated and said at least one officer involved is black.
The beating occurred at the same time police were conducting an intense manhunt for a suspect in the slaying two days earlier of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski, but Ramsey said Monday that there was no indication that any of the officers thought the suspect was among the three men in the car.
Music 360:NAS CHANGES ALBUM TITLE
As some of ya'll know, this Hip-Hop Foolywang has gone to another level. Nas was going to call his next mess album "Nigger". The ignorance astounds me....
A representative for Def Jam has confirmed that Nas has decided to change the title of his highly anticipated new album from Nigger to Nas. But in a statement released Monday, Nas clarified that he considers his new album untitled, adding:
“It’s important to me that this album gets to the fans. It’s been a long time coming. I want my fans to know that, creatively and lyrically, they can expect the same content and the same messages. It’s that important. The streets have been waiting for this for a long time. The people will always know what the real title of this album is and what to call it.”
Let me name it! "Great For Garbage"

WHEN STUPID THINGS GO TERRIBLY WRONG...
WOW, what a bizarre way to go! Man dies in spitting contest plunge
A SWISS man died when he fell from a hotel balcony during a spitting match with a friend, a Swiss newspaper has reported.
The daily Blick said the 29-year-old man took a run-up from inside the room so he could spit further, but lost his balance and plummeted 6.4m to the street below.
He died in hospital.
The man had suggested the contest when he and two friends returned from a disco to their hotel in Cadempino in Switzerland's Italian-speaking Ticino canton in the early hours.
One of the men went to sleep, but the two others decided to see who could spit furthest from the balcony of their room.

ZSA ZSA'S MAN CALLS OBAMA'S WIFE 'WASHERWOMAN': Al Sharpton is furious
*Prince Fredric Von Anhalt, a constant target of ridicule at TMZ.com for his racism and bizarre behavior, told the Web site in a recent interview that he dislikes Barack Obama and that his wife, Michelle, will "look like a washerwoman" compared to other first ladies.
The German socialite and husband of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor also called Michelle Obama a racist who hates white people, and referred to her – in his thick German accent – as either a "whore" or "horror."
TMZ took the footage straight to Al Sharpton, who criticized Von Anhalt's racist tirade on his radio show and issued the following statement to the Web site: "Prince Von Anhalt should be denounced for his insensitive and racist attack on Michelle Obama, a proud, well-educated, and refined mother and wife."

'CURIOUS GEORGE' MAY SUE OVER OBAMA T-SHIRT: Publishers of book series considering legal action against Georgia bar owner.
*The publisher of children's book series "Curious George" has announced it will consider taking legal action against a Georgia bar owner for selling T-shirts that show the monkey peeling a banana with "Obama in '08" printed beneath the image.
"Houghton Mifflin Harcourt did not nor would we ever authorize or approve this use of the Curious George character, which we find offensive and utterly out of keeping with the values Curious George represents," said Richard Blake, the company's spokesman.
Bar owner Mike Norman, who began selling the shirts in late April, has said he sees nothing racist about the t-shirts. He said he thinks the Illinois senator and the character "look so much alike."
Bill Nigut, southeast regional director for the Anti-Defamation League, said Norman is being disingenuous.
"He can pretend he doesn't understand what the message of that T-shirt is, but he knows full well that's an offensive and demeaning stereotype used to insult African-Americans," Nigut told the Associated Press.

Music 360: Quote From Lil Wayne...
"The world is about to end in 2012… ’cause the Mayans made calendars, and they stop at 2012. I got encyclopedias on the bus. The world is about to end as we know it. You can see it already. A planet doesn't exist - there's no more Pluto. Planes are flying into buildings - and not just the Twin Towers. Mosquitos bite you and you die. And a black man and a woman are running for president."
