CLINTON OFFERS PRAISE FOR OBAMA’S ENERGY PLAN

At the U.S. Conference of Mayors on Sunday, former President Bill Clinton said he preferred the energy policy of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama over that of Republican rival Sen. John McCain.
“I favor Senator Obama’s position, which is to go to 80 percent reduction in greenhouse gasses over Senator McCain’s position, which is to go to 70 percent. But that’s light years ahead of where Republicans have been,” he said.
It was his first public appearance since his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton, ended her presidential campaign and endorsed Obama. She and Obama are scheduled to campaign together later this week.
Her husband, however, has yet to endorse Obama. When asked by journalists when he might do so, Clinton smiled and shook hands with spectators without acknowledging the question.
