Let The "Black Haterade" Begin...

I’m laughing at these "educated" negroid mentality folks! Do you think that Barack would be where he is if he was going to hold BBQs on the White House front lawn like these folks want him too? Tell these folks to go somewhere and sit down. Tavis Smiley, "Dr." Whatever and Bennett College president Dr. Julianne Malveaux...ya'll need to SIT DOWN, SHUT UP and HOLD ON!

McCain's VP Pick Palin Facing Ethics Investigation

For most of her tenure as governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin has enjoyed widespread popularity and a reputation as a maverick who refused to stand by fellow Alaska Republicans facing their own ethics scandals.

But the 44-year-old Palin, who was selected as Sen. John McCain's running mate today, is now the focus of her own state ethics investigation as part of the so-called "Troopergate" scandal, a bizarre controversy involving the firing of a state police chief and his reluctance to fire an Alaska state trooper, Palin's former brother-in-law who has been involved in a bitter custody fight with her younger sister.

Just two weeks ago, Palin revealed an audio recording of an aide pressuring the state's Public Safety Department to fire trooper Mike Wooten, the Anchorage Daily News reported.

A portion of Gov. Sarah Palin's (R-Alaska) July interview with CNBC:

Palin also acknowledged that her staff had contacted Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan about two dozen times about Wooten. Monegan himself was fired July 11 (the dismissal was "out of the blue," he told reporters) and he later said that he was pressured by Palin's staff and family to get rid of Wooten, a trooper based in Palmer, Alaska.

(To counter the "Troopergate" tag, the alternative-weekly Anchorage Press has dubbed the firing scandal "Wootengate")

The accusations first surfaced via the blog of former Alaska state rep. Andrew Halcro, who unsuccessfully ran against Palin in 2006.

(On Palin's selection as McCain's vice-presidential pick, Halcro wrote that "this shocking choice says more about McCain's desparation than it does about Palin's qualifications.")

In July, Palin came under a state ethics investigation and critics have said Palin's claim that she did not know of the political pressure being placed on Monegan was a "little too convenient." One fellow lawmaker, state Sen. Hollis French, a Democrat, told The Wall Street Journal that Palin could face impeachment. After French's comments, Palin ordered the investigation into Monegan's firing and told CNBC last month that lawmakers were unfairly targeting her.

"It's cool. I want them to ask me the questions. I don't have anything to hide," she said during the interview. "Didn't do anything wrong there."

The investigation is expected to cost about $100,000 and last at least three months, according to The Associated Press.

The governor has insisted that her decision to fire Monegan in July had nothing to do with former brother-in-law Wooten. Instead, she argued that Monegan "wasn't doing enough to fill state trooper vacancies and battle alcohol abuse issues," according to the Daily News.

The Daily News reports the Palins' fight with Wooten has been especially nasty and public, with the family accusing Wooten of drunken driving, illegal hunting and child abuse, among other charges, based on information culled from private investigators. Wooten and Palin's sister, Molly McCann, divorced in 2005.

The governor's husband, Todd Palin, told the Daily News that his family was also concerned about the governor's safety, saying Wooten threatened to kill the governor's father and made vague threats to her that he would bring Palin down.

POLITICS: BARACK OBAMA’S DNC SPEECH

History was made yet again as Sen. Barack Obama gave his formal acceptance speech at the DNC for his nomination of President of the United States. And his speech has appropriately taken place on this 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have Dream” Speech at the March on Washington. Check out the video above of Senator Obama’s speech if you missed it. Or if you just need to check it out for a second time. The speech was no frills, politically driven, and straight to the point. And it was incredible to say the least.

On Thursday, more than 84,000 people jammed into Invesco Field at Mile High stadium to hear Sen. Barack Obama accept his historic nomination.
Obama explained to a roaring crowd that we must decide between four more of the last eight years or a new direction aimed at ending the conflict in Iraq and easing economic insecurities of working families. “These challenges are not all of government’s making, but the failure to respond is a direct result of a broken politics in Washington and the failed policies of George W. Bush. . . . I say to the American people, to Democrats and Republicans and independents across this great land: Enough!”

VIDEO: JENNIFER HUDSON PERFORMS NATIONAL ANTHEM AT DNC

Jennifer Hudson performed her rendition of the national anthem Thursday afternoon at Mile High Stadium in Denver to kick off the final day of the Democratic National Convention.
Earlier this week, the ‘Dreamgirls’ Oscar winner and former “American Idol” contender was asked personally by Senator Obama to perform at the event. Hudson, who calls Barack a “great role model,” told Entertainment Tonight that she had never yet sang for such a large crowd.
“This is definitely one of the biggest honors for me,” she said. “It’s something that I’ve really wanted to do.”

Somebody Tell Her To Go Somewhere and SIT DOWN!

Why go all the way to the Democratic Convention and then do some foolywang like this? Here we are at an Historic Point in History and then this! Git cho cousin, auntie, whoever she is, and shut that down! Have A Blessed holiday!!

Unbelievable: You ARE NOT Beyonce, Solange! Get over yourself!

Solange Knowles, appeared on a Fox 5 news show in Las Vegas on Wednesday to discuss her new album that dropped earlier this week. Apparently Solange thought she heard something that may have been on air, and she reacted very NASTILY. What Would Beyonce Do? Well, at least she would have handled it with grace and class, unlike bab sis as we see here! Solange, if you're listening, you have to at least earn the right to HAVE an attitude. Sell a few hundred mil, and then hollah at us! Peep the video.

Friday's Foolywang: Michael Jackson

The King of Pop hit up Planet Hollywood Las Vegas yesterday in this getup:

No, it’s not a wax statue. I had to stare at this mess for a few minutes myself to make sure. It really is that dude Michael Jackson in the flesh. Rocking a blazer and pajama pants in public is becoming his signature look. And that’s not ok. But ya’ll know the fill-in-the-blank drill…

BUT HIS ___________ LOOKS NICE.

And, had he not had all that surgery, he would probably be looking like this:

BARACK OBAMA MAKES HISTORY

Sen. Barack Obama with Sen. Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, wave to the DNC on Wed.
On Wednesday, Sen. Barack Obama became the first African-American to lead a major party ticket.
As former rival Sen. Hillary Clinton motioned to cut the roll call vote short, delegates cried and cheered as she said, “Let’s declare together with one voice right here, right now, that Barack Obama is our candidate and he will be our president.”
Obama will address an estimated 75,000 people in the culmination of the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
In his address to the Convention, former President Bill Clinton reflected on the significance of this moment: “Now, Sen. Obama’s life is a 21st-century incarnation of the old-fashioned American dream. His achievements are proof of our continuing progress toward the more perfect union of our founders’ dreams. Barack Obama will lead us away from the division and fear of the last eight years back to unity and hope.”

THE FUTURE FIRST LADY

Following her big speech, Michelle Obama sat down with Brian Williams to discuss speech-writing, child-rearing, the Bidens and connecting with Cindy McCain.
Regarding Monday’s speech:
“I don’t like last minute, so we sort of got our speech together about a month ago, actually. Got to sort of live with it, so those were my words so it was very easy for me to internalize it. Amazingly, getting up in front of a crowd is probably the easiest part of it after 19 months of hanging out with Barack Obama with 75,000 people could be at a time. You get used to the energy of the crowd, and I tend to feed off of that. And I try to stay focused on why I’m there and that can fill my spirit with the kind of authenticity, I think. I just try to let people get a sense of the real me as much as possible. So I just try to let go and speak from the heart.”

BLACK HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: OCTAVIA E. BUTLER

Octavia E. Butler (1947-2006) was the first black woman to gain popularity and critical acclaim as a major science fiction writer.
Born in Pasadena, California, Butler was the only living child her mother, Octavia M. Butler, was able to carry to term out of five pregnancies. Her father, Laurice, a shoe shiner, died when she was just a baby and her mother and grandmother raised her in a racially mixed neighborhood where her mother worked to support the family as a maid.
Butler was very shy in school, a daydreamer, and that made school very difficult for her—as did her dyslexia, which she later overcame. Nicknamed Junie, Butler began writing at 10 to escape boredom and loneliness. A couple of years later, she had become interested in science fiction. She told the Black Scholar, “I was writing my own little stories and when I was 12, I was watching a bad science fiction movie called Devil Girl from Mars and decided that I could write a better story than that. And I turned off the TV and proceeded to try, and I’ve been writing science fiction ever since.”
In 1968, she received an associate degree from Pasadena City College and then enrolled at California State University, Los Angeles and UCLA. Much of her success came about because of the Open Door Program of the Screenwriters Guild of America and the Clarion Science Fiction Writers Workshop. Butler also spent time researching developments in biology, the physical sciences and genetics. While attending school, she held down a number of odd jobs, and her work experiences come through in the character of Dana in her novel Kindred.
Her first published story, “Crossover,” appeared in Clarion’s 1971 anthology. In her short fiction collection Bloodchild and Other Stories, Butler wrote “I thought I was on my way as a writer…In fact, I had five more years of rejections slips and horrible little jobs ahead of me before I sold another word.” In 1976, she published her first book, Patternmaster, though it became the fifth in the Patternist series. Most of the Patternmaster novels were written and published out of sequence.
Butler won her first award in 1980, a creative arts award from the Los Angeles YWCA. In 1984, she won a Hugo Award for her short story, “Speech Sounds”. The following year, she won another Hugo for her novella Bloodchild. It also won the 1984 Nebula Award. Other science fiction writers and fans decide on the Hugo and Nebula Awards. In 1995, she became the first science fiction writer to receive the MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Grant, which “is not a reward for past accomplishment, but rather an investment in a person’s originality, insight, and potential”.
Her novel, Parable of the Sower, was nominated for a Nebula in 1994 and five years later, she won the award for the sequel, Parable of the Talents. Butler had originally planned to write a third Parable novel, tentatively titled Parable of the Trickster, but encountered writer’s block and went seven years without publishing a new novel.
For her 2005 novel, Fledgling, she shifted her focus, and although Butler passed it off as a lark, the novel is connected to her other works through its exploration of race, sexuality and what it means to be a member of a community. Moreover, the novel continues the theme, raised explicitly in Parable of the Sower, that diversity is a biological imperative.
Butler has been quoted saying: “Every story I write adds to me a little, changes me a little, forces me to reexamine an attitude or belief, causes me to research and learn, helps me to understand people and grow…. Every story I create, creates me. I write to create myself.”
She died outside of her home in Lake Forest Park, Washington, on February 24, 2006, at the age of 58. Some have stated she died of head injuries after falling and hitting her head on her sidewalk, while others report she suffered a stroke as a result of those injuries.
The Octavia E. Butler Memorial Scholarship was established in Butler’s memory in 2006 by the Carl Brandon Society. The scholarship enables writers of color to attend one of the Clarion writing workshops where Butler got her start.

Today's Word: A Second Chance at Virginity?

It sounds ridiculous.

Become a virgin again? Why not ask to relive last week? How is it possible to start over?
A man once posed a similar question to Yeshua: "How can an old man go back into his mother's womb and be born again?" (John 3:4) Yeshua answered by talking about a second spiritual birth. Humans can only reproduce human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new life from heaven (John 3:6).

You can lose your physical virginity just once. If you did it, you did it. You can't get that first time back again. And the past carries with it physical and emotional consequences. If memories have been etched on your brain, you can't pretend they're gone. But spiritually, it is quite possible to start all over again.

Spiritual rebirth doesn't destroy the past. It transforms it. A second chance, spiritually, means there are no limitations to what you can become. The Yahvah who made the universe out of nothing can take your past and make from it something beautiful.
The apostle Paul talked about this transformation when he wrote to a group of Machiahians in Greece. They had plenty in their past to regret. But because they trusted Yeshua to redeem them, the past had been transformed:

Don't you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of Yahvah? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers—none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of Yahvah. There was a time when some of you were just like that, but now your sins have been washed away, and you have been set apart for Yahvah. You have been made right with Yahvah because of what the Lord Yeshua Machiah and the Spirit of our Yahvah have done for you (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

How do you begin that kind of transformation? You can't manage it on your own. You need Yahvah's power and forgiveness. And where do you find that? You ask for it. Spiritual transformation begins as simply and as mysteriously as that. You ask, admitting your need. And Yahvah goes to work in your life.

So when you've stopped having sex and asked for forgiveness, can you call yourself a virgin? Perhaps you are no longer a virgin in the physical sense. But because you have been purified by Yahvah, you are a virgin in his eyes. That may not clear up your reputation or your memory. But it does clear up your future with Yahvah. You are as good as new.

Once you've experienced Yahvah's forgiveness, you'll still have to deal with the leftovers of your past, like guilt. Feelings of guilt are your internal, emotional response. They aren't always reliable. What we call a guilty conscience is often a mixture of feelings like regret, loss, sadness and shame. These are natural feelings for someone who's been involved in a sexual relationship.
The sense of guilt won't instantly change. Like other natural consequences—pregnancy, disease, or painful memories—feelings don't necessarily disappear when Yahvah transforms your life. But their sting is taken away. So, even though you may still feel guilty, it's vital to know that, as far as Yahvah is concerned, you're not guilty. That's the truth of 1 John 1:9, where Yahvah promises to forgive us and cleanse us when we confess our sins to him. And that's the truth of Jeremiah 31:34, where Yahvah promises to forget your sins forever.

Yeshua didn't die on the cross to take away your feelings. He died to take away your sins. Cleansed of sin, you can work on transforming your feelings into a useful tool for Yahvah's service. They need not lead you downward. Transformed, they can give you compassion for the pain of other people. And they can give you deep determination not to go wrong again.

Today's Foolywang: Eric Dyson

Named by Ebony as one of the hundred most influential black Americans, Michael Eric Dyson is making headlines for another reason.
In a statement to EUR, Media critic Paul Porters said:
“TV One’s “After Party” analysis of Michelle Obama rear end by Michael Eric Dyson, lacked class while lowering the low standard for television news.
Dyson’s admiration for Michelle Obama’s figure was off base and deserves an apology from TV One and and the Georgetown professor.
It’s tough enough trudging through opinion based biases on a daily level with pundits and analyst, Dyson has officially added sexism to mainstream media’s divorce of discussing real issues.
Michael Eric Dyson referenced a recent trip to Europe, by labeling European women with flat rear ends and was proud to see Michelle Obama’s, “gluteus maximus” as a symbol of the beauty of African American women. Education and common sense are obviously two distinct values and Dyson’s comments are living proof.”

OBAMA ASSASSINATION PLOT?

Three men, Shawn Robert Adolf, 33; Tharin Robert Gartrell, 28; and Nathan Dwaine Johnson, 32, are facing federal charges after allegedly talking of assassinating Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
U.S. Attorney Troy Eid said the three never posed a serious threat to Obama, and none of the charges concern threats against him.
The three face charges that include possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of body armor by a violent felon, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
According to the criminal complaint, Adolf talked of killing Obama in Denver and during his inauguration. Considering you can only be killed once, it’s unclear if he was referring to Obama’s upcoming speech on Thursday or in January.
The complaint also states the men reportedly referred to Obama with a racial epithet and said that such a person should never live in the White House. Eid said they “could not believe how close he (Obama) was [sic] to becoming president.”

POLITICS: HILLARY CLINTON’S DNC SPEECH

Sen. Hillary Clinton, a self-proclaimed “proud supporter of Barack Obama”, called on the Democratic Party to rally behind the Democratic presidential candidate, adding that “it is time to take back the country we love and whether you voted for me or you voted for Barack, the time is now to unite as a single party with a single purpose.”

Clinton was met with a standing ovation from an enthusiastic audience in the last speech of the night, as she thanked voters for supporting her campaign and reached out to those still wary of Obama. To sum it up, Clinton declared, “No way. No how. No McCain. Barack Obama is my candidate. And he must be our president.”

Unbelievable: JoJo Collapses, Nobody Cares

After suddenly collapsing on stage and clutching his head in agony, Jojo -- from R&B duo K-Ci and JoJo -- laid frighteningly motionless during a live concert in Australia this weekend -- unfortunately, his brother was more concerned with hitting his high note.

JoJo spent nearly a full minute on the floor by himself, while in the same time, a crew member picked up the fallen microphone, and his brother continued singing -- but neither one paid any attention to the passed out singer. In the video, you can hear people in the crowd asking, "Is he alright" and begging K-Ci to "pick him up, man!"But here's the rub -- instead of getting him backstage for help ASAP, K-Ci picks up JoJo and drags his stumbling brother to the front of a stage for an ovation. A crew member then quickly grabbed the dazed singer by the arm and hauled him off the stage.K-Ci told the crowd Jojo was just dizzy from the flight. We're dizzy from the spin.

Why is the singing still going on after the fall??? Why did the ole dude from backstage pick the MIC up first??? We say, "Crack Is Whack"!

8 Ways to Pray

1. Journal your prayers. But don't just journal requests. Write out questions, heartaches and struggles. Don't forget to journal praises, too. Be creative. Put your prayers into poems. Write a letter to Yahvah. Then go back and read your journal entries in a week or a month. There's a good chance you'll be reminded of how Yahvah has answered your prayers. And when you're feeling down, your past praises remind you of Yahvah's goodness and love for you.

2. Take a prayer walk. Hike in a forest preserve and praise Yahvah for his beautiful creation. Walk around your neighborhood and pray for the family in each home you pass. Or take a "prayer walk" on the sidewalk around your job or school.

3. Pray over your calendar and schedule. Got a test coming up? Pray for peace of mind. Pray for the players of Friday night's basketball game-both sides. Ask Yahvah to bring non-Christians to your winter retreat.

4. Pray Scripture. Let's say that during your Bible reading time you come across 1 Peter 5:7: "Yahvah cares for you, so turn all your worries over to him" (CEV). Turn that verse into a prayer: "Lord, I'm going to trust you and give you all my worries. I know you will take care of me." Do this with Scriptures that express needs and also with those that praise or thank Yahvah. Hey, why not personalize the Lord's Prayer? Take each sentence or phrase from this well-known prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) and write it in a way that applies directly to your life.

5. Pray about the news. When you read or hear about a troubling issue, pray for the people involved. Pray for politicians and other national and community leaders who make the news.

6. Partner up. Find someone to pray with regularly. Plan to meet at a coffee shop once or twice a week, or get together before school. Praying with a friend is great for personal accountability. It's also a cool way to take a friendship to a deeper level.

7. Be quiet. If prayer is a conversation, then you also need to listen in silence. And silence means getting away from distractions like music and TV. A quiet, little-used corner at the library could be the best place. As you listen, don't expect to hear a voice. But do expect Yahvah to tug at your heart, move your conscience, or help you realize something you need to do or change.

8. Keep a prayer on your lips. Dozens of thoughts pass through your mind daily. You daydream. You may think bad or gossipy thoughts. Turn those daydreams and not-so-great thoughts into prayers. Ask Yahvah to help a person hurt by gossip. Ask him to forgive you for thoughts that take your mind places it shouldn't go. Turn daydreams and other passing thoughts into moments to recognize Yahvah's presence in your life. As you learn to keep a prayer on your lips, you'll come a little closer to understanding what it means to "pray continually" (1 Thessalonians 5:17, niv).

If You Don't Have Anything Nice To Say....

As obituaries go, this one from the Vallejo Times-Herald sets a standard for brutal honesty.

“Dolores Aguilar, born in 1929 in New Mexico, left us on Aug. 7, 2008. Dolores had no hobbies, made no contribution to society and rarely shared a kind word or deed in her life. I speak for the majority of her family when I say her presence will not be missed by many, very few tears will be shed and there will be no lamenting over her passing.

“Her family will remember Dolores and amongst ourselves we will remember her in our own way, which were mostly sad and troubling times throughout the years. We may have some fond memories of her and perhaps we will think of those times, too. But I truly believe at the end of the day all of us will really only miss what we never had, a good and kind mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. I hope she is finally at peace with herself. As for the rest of us left behind, I hope this is the beginning of a time of healing and learning to be a family again.

“There will be no service, no prayers and no closure for the family she spent a lifetime tearing apart. We cannot come together in the end to see to it that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren can say their goodbyes. So I say here for all of us, goodbye Mom.” [source]

Well! Tell em how you REALLLY feel! For a minute I had to wonder if it was even true. But if you read along you find out that yes.. this was confirmed by the newspaper and they actually interviewd the people responsible for it. this is what one of them had to say:

“I wanted to do the right thing, the honest thing,” said the 54-year-old mother of two. “When she died a co-worker gave me a copy of an obituary she wrote for her father as a kind of writing guide. What struck me was how my mother was none of the things I was reading. She was never there for us, she was never good and she left no legacy. So how could I say any of the usual things about her?”

Yahvah forbid, if anything happened to you, what would folks say?

Obama Selects VP Over The Weekend!

After much speculation on who it might be, Democratic presidential candidateBarack Obama has chosen Delaware Sen. Joe Biden as his running mate.

A text message, sent around 3 a.m. Saturday announced, “Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee“.

In an introductory post on his official website, Obama’s campaign said:

Joe Biden brings extensive foreign policy experience, an impressive record of collaborating across party lines and a direct approach to getting the job done.

We have our team, but we also have our work cut out for us.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden are the leaders who will bring the change our country needs. But they can’t do it alone.

Ms. Brat was convicted back in 2001 for misdemeanor reckless conduct.

Burning Question: Thou Shalt Not Smoke Dope?

Q. I know quite a few people who smoke marijuana. I must honestly say that a couple of them are believers. I tell them it's wrong, but they won't listen to me. Are there any verses in the Bible to convince them that this is wrong?

A. Like many modern issues we face every day, there are verses in the Bible that relate to this issue. No, there aren't any verses that specifically say, "Thou shalt not smoke 'The Cronic'." But other passages do address issues we can apply to the decision of whether to smoke pot. Here are three verses that offer wisdom and guidance:

1) "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own" (1 Corinthians 6:19, NIV).

Your body is a rental. It belongs to Yahvah. You want to treat it well. In fact, if you are a Christian, the Holy Spirit of Yahvah actually dwells in your body. So does smoking pot honor your body or the Holy Spirit? No. It takes you out of control, changes who you are and can lead to other drug use or addiction. The body is Yahvah's temple, and we should keep it free of substances that draw us away from him.

2) "Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you" (Ephesians 5:18, NLT).

This is talking about drunkenness from alcohol, but it's the same concept. Weed causes a person to be intoxicated. You can lose control. Many people who smoke weed violate their values because they are high. So, it's impossible to be high on any substance (including marijuana) and walking in the Spirit of Yahvah at the same time. Either the intoxication will rule your life or the Spirit will.

3) "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Yeshua …" (Colossians 3:17, NIV).

If a person truly desires to live for Yahvah in word and deed, then everything they do will be to give respect and honor to the Lord. Smoking weed doesn't fit that description. I can't imagine that someone truly living for Yeshua would think this would be a way to live a life that glorifies and worships our Lord.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure these verses will change your friends' minds about pot. For that to happen, they'd need to be willing to open their hearts to God's plan for their lives. Probably the best way to reach them will be through modeling a lifestyle that says to your friends: "I'm having a great life without weed."

7 News obtains copy of racist sign

7 News has obtained a copy of the racist sign that was posted at a Niagara Falls Department of Public Works garage. The sign, reading: "Whites Only Water Fountain" was posted by a drinking fountain and discovered by an employee during an overnight shift at a DPW garage. The director of public works says they are now conducting an internal investigation.

"In this case, I will absolutely go to every avenue and every strength that I have to see that this individual will never even have the opportunity to do anything like this again," said Director of the Niagara Falls Department of Public Works David Kinney. "Its not going to be something that is brushed under the rug, and I'm going to pursue it to its fullest degree."

The Niagara Falls mayor and city administrator also added that the city has a zero tolerance for discrimination. Community leaders are now speaking out.

"I thought that it was very unfortunate that we live in the year 2008 and people would still do something like that," said Pastor Cassandra Salter-Smith from St. James United Methodist Church. "I just couldn't believe it. It just took me back to the 1950's and 1960's where you had white water fountains and black water fountains, or white swimming pools and black swimming pools. It just took me back to that era and its not a good thing."

The DPW is still unsure who placed the racist sign by the water fountain and the case remains under investigation.

Sisters: A Little Make Up Tip….

Don't let this happen to you! Let's learn a tip inspired by Ms. Laurie Ann "Boom-Kat" Gibson, of Makin' The Band Fame. Here’s the tip: To keep the lipstick/lipglass off of your teeth, once it is applied, you have to stick the tip of your index finger in your mouth, almost in a sucking type position and all of the excess lipstick or lip gloss that would have normally gotten on your teeth will come off on your finger. This will save you from the "lipstick malfunction" that you see here. Sistahs, lipstick teeth will BOOMKAT your whole look.

Today's Word: 10 Ways to Practice Purity

When you fall in love, it's natural to want to express your love in physical ways. But you also know God wants you to remain sexually pure—in both your actions and your thoughts. Sometimes it's a tough balance, but showing love for another and remaining pure is possible. Here are some suggestions:

1) Keep innocent expressions special. Rather than making the innocent expressions a mere prelude to the "heavier stuff," make the most of them. Let holding hands mean something. Express tenderness by simply putting your arms around each other. Make sure a kiss communicates true feeling and isn't just the first step to further physical involvement.

2) Pace your passion. Every marathon runner knows that you don't use up your energy at the beginning of the race; you need most of it at the end. Pacing your passion means that you realize you're trying to remain pure all the way to your wedding day. It's OK to express your love in little ways, but don't start messing with the package that is sex. To get real practical, avoid French kissing and petting—anything that is sure to ignite the fires of passion.

3) Don't feed your fantasies. It's normal to think about sex sometimes. In fact, with the way advertising and Hollywood exploit sex, it would be impossible not to think about it. So choose your entertainment carefully. Soap operas, certain songs, books, television shows, movies and Web sites only turn up the pressure. Feeding your thought life with junk only makes it harder to remain pure in your actions.

4) Remember whose property you're touching. You do not own the person you're dating. That person belongs to God. Imagine there's a sign on everyone you date that reads: PROPERTY OF YESHUA.

5) Make a promise to God, and daily renew your commitment. Decide where you're going to draw the line, and tell God that with his help, you are not going to cross that line until marriage. Don't commit to it unless you mean it, though. The Bible says it's a serious thing to make a vow to God. At the same time, realize that you can't stick to your promise without his help. That's why it's important to renew your commitment daily.

6) Acknowledge Yeshua's presence on every date. Before a date, it's normal to spend a lot of time getting ready. After all, you want to look your best. But you also want to make sure you're spiritually prepared. So spend at least as much time in prayer as you do in front of a mirror. As it says in Proverbs 3:6: "Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths."

7) Agree on your standards. Before sex becomes an issue in the relationship, talk about your standards with your boyfriend or girlfriend. Don't dwell only on the negative—what you won't do. Hebrews 10:24 tells us to "encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds." Discuss ways your friendship can help each of you become a better person.

8) Don't always go it alone. Sure, you want to be alone with your date; that's only normal. Yet too much time alone can lead you to do things you'll regret later. Your relationship will be a lot healthier if you spend time with each other's families and friends.

9) Put real love first. Genuine love always respects the other person. It never says, "If you love me, you'll … " Real love says instead, "Since I care about you so much, I will respect you, treat you with kindness, and never ask you to do something you know or feel is wrong."

10) Declare a new beginning. If you think you've already given away too much, don't give up. The beauty of Christianity is that sins are forgiven and erased. You can start over today.

OBAMA GETS FASHION LINE

With all the Obama tees being made and worn, you’d think Barack Obama himself would come out with a line. Well the Washington Post reported this week that his campaign signed on for a few top designers to create merchandise that would be sold online at his website:
The mix, available online next month, ranges from T-shirts to tote bags and will lend a bit of runway panache to the Obama brand. The list of participating designers, which includes Derek Lam, Isaac Mizrahi, Tracy Reese, Charles Nolan and Diane von Furstenberg, covers the full spectrum of the market, from high-end to inexpensive.
Other names have been bandied about but not confirmed: Beyoncé, Russell Simmons, Michael Bastian, Vera Wang. READ MORE
Wow, as if there weren’t enough Obama shirts to choose from, you know you have to get one from the official campaign itself. The clothing brand is expected to premiere during N.Y Fashion Week on September 9th…

NEWS ROUNDUP: RACIAL SLUR DEFACES CHURCH

The congregation of the First Baptist Church of Chesterbrook, Virginia, recently discovered Nigger spray-painted in large block letters next to the church’s front door.
“It was a very upsetting time,” said Andre Johnson, a longtime member of the church.
Johnson added that members were concerned, as you “can very well expect them to be when they walk up to the church and see that on the front.”
“It was very disturbing to the membership and to me,” said James R. King, chairman of the board of deacons at the church, which traces its history to the Civil War era.
During the service, King said he and the church’s pastor, the Rev. Todd Brown, said from the pulpit that it was not so much the word itself that had been so alarming but the place it appeared.
“That you would deface a house of worship . . . shocked us more than anything,” King said.

BLACK HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: DR. SHIRLEY A. JACKSON

Dr. Shirley A. Jackson (1946-) is a physicist and president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the nation’s oldest technological university.
Born to Beatrice and George Jackson in Washington, D.C., Jackson developed a passion for science at the age of 8, spurred by her father’s assistance with projects for her science classes. She joined the accelerated programs for math and science and graduated valedictorian from segregated Roosevelt High School in 1964. Later that year, she became one of the first black students to be accepted at MIT and the only one studying theoretical physics.
While working on her undergraduate degree, she volunteered at Boston City Hospital and tutored students at the Roxbury YMCA. In 1968, Jackson earned her B.S. and chose to stay at MIT for her doctoral work to encourage more black students to attend. She completed her Ph.D. in 1973 and became the first black woman to earn a doctorate degree from the institution.
Dr. Jackson became a research associate in theoretical physics at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) in 1973 and served as a visiting science associate at the European Organization for Nuclear Research from 1974–1975. She then returned to Fermilab as a research associate in theoretical physics. Jackson spent 1976–1977 at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center and Aspen Center for Physics. She also served on the technical staff of Bell Telephone Laboratories in theoretical physics from 1976 until 1978. That year, Dr. Jackson began working with the technical staff of the Scattering and Low Energy Physics Research Laboratory of Bell Telephone Laboratories.
In 1976, Dr. Jackson was appointed professor of physics at Rutgers University and served until 1991. From 1991 to 1995, she served as a consultant in semiconductor theory to AT&T Bell Laboratories. In 1995, President Bill Clinton appointed her Commissioner of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, becoming the first woman and first black person to hold the position.
Jackson became the 18th president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on July 1, 1999. She was the first woman and first black person to hold this position, as well. In 2001, she was elected member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). In December of the following year, Jackson was elected president-elect (2003) of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest general scientific society and publisher of the science journal Science. In 2004, Science Spectrum Magazine and Career Communications Group, Inc. selected Dr. Jackson as one of the 50 Most Important Blacks in Research Science.
Jackson is the former president and chairman of the Board of the AAAS; a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, The American Philosophical Society, the Council on Foreign Relations; and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Physical Society, and the AAAS. She serves on a number of boards, including the New York Stock Exchange, the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution, IBM, FedEx, MIT and Georgetown University.
Dr. Jackson holds 43 honorary doctoral degrees and has been described as “a national treasure” by the National Science Board who, in 2007, selected Jackson as the recipient of the Vannevar Bush Award for “a lifetime of achievements in scientific research, education and senior statesman-like contributions to public policy”. Other honors include the CIBA-GEIGY Exceptional Black Scientist Award, the Thomas Alva Edison Science Award, the Martin Marietta Aircraft Company Scholarship and Fellowship, the Prince Hall Masons Scholarship, the National Science Foundation Traineeship, and a Ford Foundation Advanced Study Fellowship.
In 1998, Dr. Jackson was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame for “her significant contributions as a distinguished scientist and advocate for education, science and public policy”. She was also named one of the 50 Most Important Women in Science by Discover magazine. Jackson was recognized in a book published by Essence, titled 50 of The Most Inspiring African-Americans. In 2008, Jackson was honored with the L’Oreal USA For Women in Science Role Model Award, for raising awareness of the critical role that women play in the sciences.
Dr. Jackson is married to Dr. Morris A. Washington, a physics professor at Rensselaer, and the couple has one son, Alan, a graduate of Dartmouth College.

BREAKING NEWS: Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones Has Died

In even more sad news today, Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones of Ohio passed away just minutes ago in an East Cleveland hospital. She suffered a brain aneurysm while driving yesterday and was admitted to the hospital for care. And just shortly ago, brain hemorrhaging caused her death. Medicine & Miracles:Premature baby 'comes back to life'

A couple from Kafr Yasif in the Galilee received the shock of their lives Monday when the wife's miscarried 610-gram fetus, which had been declared dead five hours earlier, was found to be breathing.

The baby girl, born during the 23rd week of gestation, still has an uncertain future. Hospital spokesman Ziv Farber said that any premature infant of that weight and age had only a 10 percent chance for survival. But five years ago, he added, "we had a baby weighing only 580 grams, and she survived."

The 26-year-old mother and her husband have a five-year-old son at home. When she gave birth after going into premature labor at the hospital, the doctor on the scene pronounced it dead and it was taken to the morgue.

The father, Ali Majdub, told Channel 2 that his wife realized the child was alive after asking to see her dead daughter one last time.

"When we unwrapped the baby to see her, she realized it was moving. I began screaming and ran with it toward the doctors," he said.

She was then rushed to the neonatal intensive care unit,
where doctors are fighting for her life.

"I was in shock," the mother told Channel 2 last night. "I thought I wasn't hearing it right when they said she was still alive."

Dr. Moshe Daniel, the hospital's deputy director, said that in his 35 years as a physician, he had "never heard of such a case. It was like a medical miracle."

The hospital informed the Health Ministry, which will now decide whether to set up an internal or external investigating committee. Daniel speculated that the cooling effect of the morgue slowed the infant's metabolism, causing her oxygen consumption to be very low. There have been rare cases of people who nearly froze under snow "coming back to life," but there have been no reports of babies doing so.

Today's Word: Workplace War with the Armor of Yahvah

Several years ago, the company I worked for was undergoing massive changes. Until then, I’d been on a wonderful team of encouraging leaders and friends. We were building our side of the business and seeing great success. We were thrilled to be a part of it. Then, before we knew what hit us, people were being downsized and company holdings were sold.

In an attempt to take market share, our company purchased another business that targeted a niche market. Within a few months, one of their managers pressed his way into a corporate VP position. We were stunned to find that this person we barely knew would have control over the business we’d built for years.

Not your typical executive, his spiky hair laid in rows set by the overuse of gel. He wore shiny silk shirts that were always left open to expose his gold chains. His favorite expletive broke a commandment—a phrase he favored enough to use in nearly every sentence he spoke. He regularly told me that we needed to have a “Come to Yeshua” meeting, meaning I needed to stop opposing him and take on his viewpoint.
I tried to buffer the people working under me as he did everything he could to sway the office culture to his repugnant ways. Still, I often found him telling an office full of women of his nightly conquests or repeatedly flirting with the younger associates. He even tried to persuade me to set him up with several of them.

When he casually asked me what I thought of him during a group lunch, I pointedly told him I didn’t like him. A few weeks later, people were moved around, job titles were changed, and he became my direct boss. I was in the crosshairs.

I panicked about how I would handle such a disaster. Being a new Christian I knew I would have to rely heavily on Yahvah to get through this. So, I turned to a strong Christian friend for advice.

“Put on the armor of Yahvah,” she said.

“The…what?!” I asked thinking she was being incredibly pat in the face of my circumstances.

“The armor of Yahvah,” she said. “You’ll be fine. Look it up.”

I felt defeated. But with nothing else to turn to, I followed her advice.

I had never heard about this armor. Surely it was something incredible. Maybe Yahvah would come crashing down on this nightmare boss and conquer him for me. But like most things with Yahvah, a lot of it depended on me.

In Ephesians I found:“Put on the full armor of Yahvah so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of Yahvah.”

Truth. Righteousness. Readiness. Faith. The Word. Could that really be all I needed?

My devastation turned to intrigue.

He could not pierce me as long as I had those things with me each day. This barrier between us. And so I dressed myself in them mentally each day.

I clung to the beauty of truth. I made sure to keep my mind ready for whatever he might throw at me. I held tightly to my faith and prayed regularly throughout each work day. And I studied the Word, breathing it in and out when I was around him.

No matter what my boss could do to my career, he couldn’t change me. There was nothing that could be take from me that couldn’t be replaced. Even if I lost my job, or had to struggle financially he couldn’t harm who I was: a follower of Yeshua. I was protected by Yahvah. I just had to suit up.

I eventually did lose my job (while on maternity leave) to a woman friend who came along with him in the buy-out. But what I lost in the business world was minute compared to the gain in my faith. As a new Christian, I learned a great lesson about relying on the things of Yahvah.

Unbelievable: Puerto Rican Man Wishes To Stand At His Funeral; And Does!

I would do anything for my family. Annnnnything. But specially embalm you so that you can stand on your feet at your own wake? Nawl dude. And especially not in my own HOUSE!
But that is exactly what happened in San Juan, Puerto Rico…
And now, I can see folks right here in L.A. trying to do this foolywang. Just lay down!!! Deacons! Sit that man down!

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — A Puerto Rican man has been granted his wish to remain standing - even in death. A funeral home used a special embalming treatment to keep the corpse of 24-year-old Angel Pantoja Medina standing upright for his three-day wake.
Dressed in a Yankees baseball cap and sunglasses, Pantoja was mourned by relatives while propped upright in his mother’s living room.
His brother Carlos told the El Nuevo Dia newspaper the victim had long said he wanted to be upright for his own wake: “He wanted to be happy, standing.”
The owner of the Marin Funeral Home, Damaris Marin, told The Associated Press the mother asked him to fulfill her dead son’s last wish.
Pantoja was found dead Friday underneath a bridge in San Juan and buried Monday. Police are investigating.

Minister with AIDS...read this....Wow!!!

Here is a letter that was forwarded to me. Whether it is true or not, it is real. And it can happen to anyone. Check it out:

"To those of you who are single or married, saved or not saved, this is for you. I am a 35-year-old African American or Black brother dying of Aids. I would like to share my testimony with you. I am an owner of a Mortgage Company in Atlanta, GA. I own a 1999 Jaguar and I also own a $350,000 beautiful home in Cobb County. I have a beautiful Lady who is deeply in love with me and a loving family. But most important, I have Jesus.....

This is just a wake up call to all single brothers and sisters who are professing to be Christians, but don't want to be complete. Brothers, I had a beautiful young lady who loves the Lord and worship s the ground I walk on. B UT I still wasn't quite happy because sometimes I would see another sister with a Coca-Cola bottle shape and just wanted to hit it. Because I was using a condom, I thought that I wouldn't catch the killer 'AIDS' but guess what? I did. And the person I caught it from was a girl that I knew well. But the condom came off and now I am dying of AIDS. Yes, I wore a condom. But yes it did happen.

God gives us time after time to straighten our lives up. I do know the Lord in the pardon of my sins. I've been saved now for 7 years. I found out 7 months ago that I had the virus, and now I have full-blown Aids. I really didn't think that I was doing anything wrong, because I would tell the women who I would deal with about the woman I love. I thought that was good enough. But it wasn't. I am a good man and also a God-fearing man; but my weakness was women.. I really wasn't out there like you may think I was, but every once and a while I would see something I wanted to try. My girlfriend is a praying woman. I know now that she was intimate with me because she loved me and she wanted to make me happy. Now I've given AIDS to the woman I love (who has been faithful to me) because of lust.

Brothers and sisters, what I am telling you is that God is tired of us hurting each other and using each other for self-gratification. God has given me my home, my dream car and a beautiful woman and I took it all for granted. I've been tithing for 7 years. I am the chairman of my Deacon Board. But when I told my Pastor I had AIDS, he could not believe it because of the way I would carry myself. Brothers. If you have a sister who loves the Lord and who loves you for who you are and not for what you look like and not for what you have, cherish her. Sisters...If you have a brother who loves the Lord, love him and cherish him.

My life has been altered. I've been with my lady since I was 20, and I've always used my young age as an excuse for not being loyal and not settling down with the woman I loved. I was being a hypocrite thinking that I was missing something, and not realizing that I had a good woman who loved and adored me. I wish I had been a real man and had appreciated the good woman God had sent me by not making excuses and dedicating my life to her. I would love to travel and marry this beautiful young Lady -- but now I can't.

I've embarrassed my family, my church and my friends. But I was hardheaded and now I must suffer. God is cleaning up. Stop playing with God. God is revealing the secrets of us Christians. Brother's and sisters, we don't have to have so many 'friends,' You know what we call them. The ones we are planning to sleep with but haven't yet.' We often say that we don't want anyone to know our business, but God is about to reveal some thing's especially to us young people.

We think so carnal. But we say that we have been transformed. We have been transformed from what we want to be transformed from.. Let's be real. God knows that the opposite sex attracts us. And he knows the desires we have for each other, but we don't have to have multiple partners. If I could do it all over again, I would marry the woman I love and live happy forever. But now I can't! But you can!
Singles... I gotta tell you, it's not worth it. I love you all! Get rid of casual sex . This is really deep. After you've read this, think about yourself. Could this have been you? Some of you may not relate, but think about anything you are doing right now that is not of God...

We are living in the last and final days, and pretending to be saved is not going to cut it. Professing that He is Lord, and yet worshiping the devil every chance you get will lead you to the same path as me. Get your mind out of the gutter and put it in the Word of God and you'll have great success. Don't and you'll have great woe. I love the LORD and thank Him for all that He does in my life; therefore, I'm passing this on. Yes, I do love Jesus who has forgiven me of the repeated sins.

That forgiveness does not cancel out the consequences, at least not so far. But that's on me. Still, the Lord is my source of existence and Savior. He keeps me functioning each day and is letting me share my story with you. I'm telling it like it is THIS REALLY is to help somebody. Without Him, I will be nothing. Without Him, I am nothing but with Him I can do all things."

Phil 4:13 If you love Jesus, send this to lots of people!!!!!!

Be Positive - Be Progressive...Take the time to make a positive difference in someone's life.
